The St. Louis Blues have traded the right winger to the Washington Capitals in exchange for forwards Connor McMichael and Milton Gastrin, as well as the 16th-overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
Kyrou, 28, recorded 46 points (18 goals and 28 assists) in 72 games last season.
Across 488 career games, all with the Blues, the Toronto native has accumulated 378 points (168 goals and 210 assists).
Kyrou was drafted 35th overall by St. Louis in 2016.
“We are thrilled to acquire Jordan and welcome him to our team,” said Capitals senior vice president and general manager Chris Patrick in the team’s news release.
“Jordan is an exceptionally talented and dynamic offensive player who will make an immediate impact on our club. His skill, creativity, and ability to generate offence at an elite level will be a tremendous addition to our group. At just 28 years old and under contract for the next five seasons, Jordan is entering the prime years of his career. We believe he is an ideal fit for our team both now and for the long term.”
McMichael, 25, is in a very similar situation to Kyrou after having been drafted 25th overall in 2019 by the Capitals.
Across 315 career games with Washington, the Ajax, Ont., native posted 154 points (67 goals and 87 assists). In 2025-26, he had 46 points (14 goals and 32 assists) in 78 games.
Gastrin, 19, was selected 37th overall by the Capitals in last year’s draft. The Swede spent the past season with MoDo Hockey in Sweden’s second-tier league, HockeyAllsvenskan, recording 24 points (10 goals and 14 assists) in 39 games.
The Blues currently hold 13 picks in the upcoming draft, set for Friday and Saturday, including four in the first round (11th, 15th, 16th and 29th overall).
