The Toronto Blue Jays are making some room on their pitching staff for a rookie hurler.
Righty Chad Dallas has been selected to the team’s major-league roster and will be active for Thursday’s game against the Atlanta Braves (Sportsnet ONE, 7:15 p.m. ET / 4:15 p.m. PT), the team announced.
In a corresponding move, reliever Hayden Juenger was optioned to triple-A Buffalo and righty Tanner Andrews was designated for assignment.
Dallas, 25, is in line to make his major-league debut after spending parts of the last five seasons in the team’s minor-league system. He was selected by the Jays in the fourth round of the 2021 MLB Draft.
In 10 appearances (eight starts) at triple-A this season, the former Tennessee Volunteer has posted a 4.50 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 36 innings pitched.
He joined the team’s taxi squad in Atlanta on Wednesday and could now make his MLB debut Thursday as the Blue Jays work through the uncertain spot in their rotation amidst injuries to several of their starters.
Juenger, meanwhile, made his major-league debut for the Blue Jays on May 31 against the Baltimore Orioles, giving up three runs in an inning of work, and pitched a scoreless inning on Wednesday against Atlanta.
Prior to debuting, the 25-year-old had posted a 3.15 ERA in 17 appearances with at triple-A in 2026.
Andrews, 30, also made two appearances with the Jays before being designated for assignment, both of which came in the late-May series against the Miami Marlins.
