Blue Jays place Lenyn Sosa on IL, send Chase Lee to triple-A

As the Toronto Blue Jays begin a four-game series against the Baltimore Orioles, their roster will look a little different.

The Blue Jays placed infielder Lenyn Sosa on the 10-day injured list and recalled infielder Charles McAdoo among a slew of moves on Thursday.

Sosa, who has struggled as a Blue Jay since being acquired in April, hits the IL with a right wrist contusion.

The 26-year-old has hit just .188 with one home run and one walk in 28 games with Toronto following a trade from the Chicago White Sox.

McAdoo, the 26th-ranked prospect in the Blue Jays system, has spent time playing first, second and third base throughout his career, which fits the bench role Sosa had been playing.

The 24-year-old has a slash line of .250/.356/.436 with a .792 OPS in 49 games at triple-A this season. He’s also mashed eight home runs to go with 27 RBIs.

His call-up was first reported by ESPN’s Jeff Passan on Wednesday.

Seabold, 30, was re-acquired from the Detroit Tigers in a trade on Wednesday. He spent spring training with the Blue Jays before being designated for assignment.

In 11 relief appearances with Detroit, he has a 3.45 ERA and 14 strikeouts over 15.2 innings.

Lee, 27, has pitched in three games with the Blue Jays on the season, allowing two hits and three earned runs over 3.1 innings.

Estrada has been on the IL since April 5 with a right shoulder impingement.

The 26-year-old appeared in just one game this season, throwing four shutout innings with three strikeouts against the White Sox.

Coverage of the Blue Jays’ Thursday opener against the Orioles begins on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ at 6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT.
