Maple Leafs’ Jacob Quillan to make NHL debut vs. Senators

The 22-year-old will draw into the lineup Saturday against the Ottawa Senators with injuries to a couple of forwards opening up a spot in the lineup.

Toronto recalled Quillan on Jan. 22 after placing Max Pacioretty on injured reserve. Quillan will now move into Connor Dewar’s spot in the lineup, with the forward being placed on injured reserve Saturday.

“I’m excited. I have a lot of family coming tonight,” Quillan told reporters about making his debut. “A lot of people who helped me get here. So just thankful for them, thankful for God. Just going to take it all in.”

The Dartmouth, N.S., native has played predominately as the Marlies’ third-line centre, registering six goals and 15 points in 35 games. He had been on a strong offensive stretch with 11 points over his last 14 games which led to his promotion.
