NASCAR’s Chicago Return Has Fans Begging for a “Red Flag” Amidst Disheartening Realization

The NASCAR Xfinity Series race in Chicago has left the fans pleading for more of the racing action after a lengthy run of caution laps. With a late restart in the race, somewhere around 15 laps to go, there was a huge pileup. The likes of Josh Bilicki and Andre Castro, along with a few others, stalled the entire field after wrecking each other.

This was a good race for the fans, who were enjoying some impressive road racing action between Kyle Larson and Shane van Gisbergen. With a different strategy, the two drivers were mired in traffic and were hoping to make a run for the lead late in the race. However, the late wreck even saw fluids and fuel leaks on the racetrack, which warranted a clean-up job.

Next thing you know, there are multiple caution laps, thus limiting the opportunity for drivers to make a late charge. The race was only scheduled for a length of 50 laps, with the first two stages having 15 laps each and the final stage having a 30-lap run. But it seems like the race will be cut short all because of the caution laps and the short length. According to fans, NASCAR could’ve dealt with this situation better.

“Are they counting caution laps? If so were screwed on a good racing finish. Whys it so short?!?!

This race needs to be longer.

“NASCAR needs to add laps to this race. It’s gonna be f**king overtime by the time they’re done cleaning that mess up.”

“An easier solution would be red flagging during the clean up.”

“This race is going by way too quick. How about we just start again at lap 10 and go from there?”
