Winning the Finals MVP trophy and leading the Celtics to their eighteenth title, Jaylen Brown silenced every critic who was questioning his $303 million contract. Since then, JB has been riding the wave of success and is not leaving any stone unturned as he delivered a month-old receipt to ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith by wearing a “State Your Source” t-shirt to Friday’s championship parade in Boston. And it seems like Brown is in no mood of ending the public feud so soon as he went the extra mile to call out the veteran analyst on social media, yet again.
Standing by his statement, Brown posted several images from his historic finals MVP win and Friday’s parade on Instagram. While the post was initially only captioned “State Your Source”, JB decided to edit his caption just to personally tag Stephen A. Smith, putting the ESPN employee in the spotlight again.

And this whole ordeal began nearly a month ago when Smith, during a segment on First Take, read out a message from an anonymous source on Live TV stating, “It’s not so much that he (Brown) is underrated, it’s just that he’s just not liked because of his ‘I’m better than you attitude.’” With the statement portraying a negative perception of Brown’s image around the league and claiming that his ego is what has hampered his marketability, the Celtics superstar demanded Stephen A. to name the source he quoted. And with the constant mentions of that incident after winning the title, be it the t-shirt at the parade or the latest IG tag, JB seems hell bent on getting a name from Smith.

Stephen A. Smith’s response to Jaylen Brown’s callout
While Jaylen Brown continues to poke Stephen A., the veteran analyst is unlikely to give away any information about his sources as he clearly stated on The Stephen A. Smith Show, “State your source? That’s not gonna happen. It’ll never happen.” Being in the media industry, the said anonymous sources are where the journalists and insiders get a lot of their information from, and it is nearly impossible that they will ever disclose who the sources are. Moreover, Stephen A. had nothing but love for Jaylen Brown and claimed that his intentions of bringing up that quote on First Take might have been misconstrued by the Celtics superstar.
“If you’re Jaylen Brown and you are watching, could you please do me a favor and go back and listen to what I said? And truly inhale and dissect what I was saying. I wasn’t saying they were right, I was saying they were wrong, but you needed to be aware of the fact that some people out there saying this about you.” Smith said. Not in any way to disrespect Jaylen Brown or question his attitude, Smith only wished to make him realize that this perception among some people in the league could be the reason why he might not have gotten the recognition he deserves until now. Who do you think is in the right in this feud between Stephen A. and Jaylen Brown?
