Is US Swimming Star Nic Fink Married? Everything About His Wife and Job Alongside Paris Olympics Dream

On Father’s Day 2024, swimming sensation Nic Fink, soon to be a father, achieved something extraordinary at the U.S. Olympic Trials. In the Day 2 finals of the men’s 100-meter breaststroke, Fink held off a charging field to secure the win with a time of 59.08 seconds. Charlie Swanson of NOVA followed closely with 59.16 seconds, and Josh Matheny of ISC rounded out the podium at 59.23 seconds.

In recent years, Fink has firmly established himself as a decorated competitive swimmer. He’s a six-time World Championship gold medalist and impressed spectators with his laser-focused intensity by placing fifth in the men’s 200-meter breaststroke at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

What makes Fink’s achievements even more remarkable is his ability to balance his athletic career with a demanding professional life. After competing in Tokyo, he earned a master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from Georgia Tech. Alongside chasing his Paris Olympics dreams, he works for Quanta Utility Engineering Services, managing his duties remotely from his home in Dallas with Melanie.

Melanie Margalis-Fink, herself an accomplished Olympian, won gold in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics as part of the 4×200 freestyle relay team. She also narrowly missed a second medal, placing fourth in the 200 IM. Her own career boasts numerous accolades, including being named assistant women’s swimming coach by head coach Ozzie Quevedo.
