Are the Buffs fans going too far? On June 22, DNVR Buffs posted a clip on X featuring a quote from Colorado’s governor Camden Dempsey. It read, “What I’d hope is that journalists come to me or talk with my teammates. That’s my job right now, to be able to talk about what’s true about the program and I’ll keep it honest.” In response to this statement, Vic Lombardi, who hosts @AltitudeTV and @AltitudeSR 92.5 in Denver, pitched in his proposal.
However, this seemingly innocent proposal is met with roadblocks as a Deion Sanders fan came up to defend him. But that’s not all. CU Buffs X account also got into the picture to slam Lombardi’s proposal style, leading him to directly address Deion Sanders on social media.

After Dempsey’s statement, Vic Lombardi commented on the post saying, “It’s difficult when the coach employs his own PR team. If a reporter wants to talk to any coach in the country, reporter contacts the school’s sports information office. Not the case at CU. Prime has his own people. His own rules. Having said that, open invite on our radio show.” In the comments, a Buffs fan presented their opinion that “he doesn’t rock with most of Denver media” because they target him with hit pieces. saying, “That’s the difference. Deion isn’t fake. If he doesn’t rock with you why would he sit up in your face.”
I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. Not asking to sit on or in anybody’s face. Just want my man @DeionSanders to hop on our show for once. We treat our guests fairly. Or let me interview him privately. I think he’d “rock with me”. https://t.co/S6kbNrIRgC

Following this brutal shot, Vic Lombardi defended himself saying, “I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. Not asking to sit on or in anybody’s face.” Lombardi went on to express his interest in interviewing Coach Prime saying, “Just want my man @DeionSanders to hop on our show for once. We treat our guests fairly. Or let me interview him privately. I think he’d ‘rock with me.’” But is he taking the wrong steps to get in touch with the Buffs HC?

Vic Lombardi’s comment on DNVR Buffs post, also incited the response of CU Buffs on X who posted, “‘Back in my day when a reporter wants to talk to a coach. We contact the sports information office’… it’s 2024. Not 2004. You guys have got to embrace technology and social media.” With this new information from CU Buffs, Lombardi sarcastically followed their advice calling them “Hot Shot” in his subsequent post.
In another X post, Lombardi first addressed CU Buffs and posted, “Hey Hot Shot, watch this: Hello, @DeionSanders, Wed love to have you as a guest on our #1 rated sports radio show. It would be good for you and great for us. I’ve contacted your PR guy multiple times to no avail. Hot Shot below suggests we try social media.” It remains unclear if Deion Sanders will acknowledge the message and agree to the interview. Do you think it’s fair for the Buffs nation to defend their HC like this? Or do you think they’re taking this too far?
