With the NBA season coming to an end in a few days, most of the players have already started enjoying their summer. From watching the ongoing finals to even enjoying action from other sports, many superstars have been spotted giving their varied opinions. And in similar fashion, Bucks star Damian Lillard was left in awe of boxer Bruce Carrington as he dominated his opponent Brayan De Gracia in a spectacular bout at MSG, even forcing Dame to make a bold claim about the undefeated star.
Impressed by Carrington’s eighth round knockout victory over Gracia, Lillard tweeted, “Shu Shu Carrington giving Bud Crawford vibes mane.” Of course, Dame was referring to none other than the current unified Welterweight Champion Terence Crawford, who has never been defeated in his legendary career. Winning all forty of his career bouts, 31 with knock outs, Crawford is one of the most dominant boxers of this era. And Dame predicts a similar fate for Carrington, who also kept his undefeated streak alive by bagging his twelfth win by defeating Brayan.

And Carrington has achieved that feat in dominant fashion. Similar to Crawford, most of Carrington’s victories (8) are also via knock out. Even tonight, he was initially scheduled to face Enrique Vivas but had his opponent changed because Vivas had an issue with his visa clearance. Despite this sudden change, Carrington was unfazed by his new opponent Gracia, who has twenty-nine victories to his name. “Brayan came to fight, and his knockout ratio (25 in 34 bouts) shows he’s dangerous, but I have a lot of experience to get around that and break that down.” Carrington confidently said after getting the knockout win.

Watching Carrington move inside the ring at MSG tonight, no one would be able to believe that he turned pro just last year. Not coming out too strong in the first round, Carrington caught a feel of Gracia’s strategy for the bout. Then, from the second round, he started wreaking havoc on Gracia, hitting him with a nasty left straight to the face. And his performance only got better from there. Using multiple combinations, Shu Shu was getting several clean shots to Gracia’s face and body, while avoiding most of his punches with ease.
Then, in the fifth round, Carrington’s beatdown took a toll on Gracia as he was dropped on one knee after a hard body shot followed by a punch to the head. Already bleeding from his nose after taking hits from Bruce, Gracia continued fighting, but was almost put through the ropes in the seventh round with a lightning-fast combination from Shu Shu. And finally, the official put an end to Gracia’s misery after Carrington forced him to the ropes again and kept hitting him with hooks until the bout was stopped in the eighth round. “He had a lot of will. More reason to break him down.” Carrington said.
With the way Carrington’s career has gone so far, Dame’s bold prediction might eventually come true as the undefeated boxer seems to be following the same path as Terence Crawford.
