“Without my grandmother, there would be no Sha’Carri Richardson, so my family’s my everything.” that was Sha’Carri Richardson’s admittance regarding her grandmother’s role in her life. Her life has often come under the scanner for different reasons – it has witnessed the absence of her biological parents and the untimely demise of her mother that once landed her in the tentacles of addiction. Nevertheless, because of the backing from her grandmother and aunt, she has never given up. In this Paris Olympics season, Sha’Carri Richardson once again showed her gratitude for the support she has received from them.
In the Prefontaine Classic 2024, Sha’Carri Richardson sent a message to the critics who questioned her form after the Xiamen and Suzhou Diamond League. After posting such a message on the doubters’ faces, the reigning 100m world champion celebrated her victory with her grandmother, Betty Harp, who was present in the stands of Hayward Field. Subsequently, in her IG post, SCR shared images of her gifting the prize bouquet to Betty after her victory. It gave a similar vibe to what she had done after earning her biggest achievement in her life- the 100m qualification for the Tokyo Olympics.

Coincidentally, the 100m trial match had been set in the quant Hayward Field in 2021 and SCR took 10.86 seconds to defeat her opponents.
