Is Prabhas Shooting for Spirit’s Prison Sequences?

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is gearing up to film a crucial set of prison sequences for Spirit. A new silhouette poster has been dropped, hinting at what lies ahead. The shoot is set to take place at Hyderabad’s Chanchalguda Central Jail, lending the film a raw authenticity. Several prominent scenes will be canned during this schedule. It is shaping up to be one of the more important production phases.

An angry young cop

Spirit marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and the Animal director, with the story rooted in an original idea that took shape during the pandemic. Prabhas is speculated to play an angry young police officer who takes on a powerful syndicate. The first-look poster set the tone early, presenting a wounded, bandaged Prabhas with his back to the camera. Triptii Dimri stars as the female lead (she was chosen after Deepika Padukone’s exit). Vivek Oberoi and Prakash Raj also feature in key roles. Spirit is billed as a global entertainer and will release in multiple languages. Spirit is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on March 5, 2027.

Three major films run in parallel

Prabhas is currently in the middle of one of the most demanding stretches of his career. He is simultaneously balancing Fauzi, Spirit, and prep work for Kalki 2898 AD Part 2. Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, Fauzi presents him in a never-seen-before avatar as a British Indian Army officer set in the volatile 1940s. As for Kalki 2, director Nag Ashwin recently revealed that principal photography for the sequel is expected to resume in August or September, with much of the pre-production groundwork already in place. In a recent chit-chat with Nag Ashwin, Prabhas dodged questions about the sequel with characteristic humour. With three big films running in parallel, Prabhas is clearly leaving nothing on the table.
