TL;DR
- Google is finally making password manager switching easier by letting users securely import and export passwords and passkeys between Google Password Manager and third-party apps.
- The Play Store is also getting a visual refresh, with cleaner purchase and download dialogs across Android phones, Android TV, and Android Auto.
- Discounts and limited-time offers are now more visible, making it easier to spot deals before they expire.
In Google’s June 2026 System Services release notes, the company said it has added the ability to import and export passwords and passkeys between Google Password Manager and third-party password managers. Android Authority previously found clues about this change in Google Password Manager last month. The feature is rolling out with Google Play services version 26.21, which started rolling out on June 1.
Behind this new freedom is the Credential Exchange standard. In case you aren’t aware, this technical framework ensures your highly sensitive data can move securely between platforms without having to rely on unencrypted CSV files.

This update combines user-facing tweaks with back-end improvements under the hood. App developers get new integrated tools to support Maps-related processes directly inside their apps, which will lead to smoother and faster location services in third-party software.
Switching over to the storefront, Google Play Store v51.7 delivers a welcome facelift. So if you’re on your phone, an Android TV, or your car’s Android Auto screen, when you download or buy an app, you’ll now get a cleaner, refreshed design for dialogs.
More importantly, Google is making it more difficult to miss a good deal. Sales prices, discount details, and specific offer dates are now much clearer and more prominent in the Play Store.
Google is also making it easier to manage the apps you already care about. Pre-registration for upcoming apps and auto-install are now one seamless flow — meaning fewer taps between discovering a game and having it waiting on your home screen on launch day. Heavy gamer or rewards hunter? Now you can get notifications for monthly challenges and new Loyalty MAX challenges on handy pop-up banners.
Plus, you can view specific app content directly on the listing pages of your installed apps and quickly jump into Play Collections to browse similar categories.
