Warriors News: Dub Nation Covets Brandon Ingram as Million Blessing Offsets Klay Thompson’s Exit & Failed Paul George Trade

The 2024 offseason has forced the Golden State Warriors to open a new chapter. The iconic Dubs trio has come to an end after losing Klay Thompson in free agency. Notably, the Bay Area front office hoped to rope in Paul George to overcome it. However, the option seemed to have slipped away following the deadline. Now, with a huge dent in the talent pool and a requirement of necessary changes in the roster, Mike Dunleavy has a lot of pressure on his shoulders, heading into the off-season.

The Warriors seemed to have come a full circle. In 2012, when Bob Myers took over the GM’s office for the Dubs, he played a huge role in making the team what it is now—a 4x NBA Champion under the coach Steve Kerr. Now that Dunleavy has replaced Myers, the 43-year-old has to pull off a similar magic. First of all, he has to find a superstar to support Stephen Curry. With PG-13 out of the picture, Brandon Ingram could be the option.

Once George opted out of his Clippers contract, the star looked for max contracts. And he immediately turned unaffordable. However, the Dubs still have a trump card, which is the $30 million cap space. The Dubs signed a non-guaranteed $60 million-worth two-year contract with Chris Paul. With one year down, the Dubs can trade out CP3 without a buyout. Eventually, it has helped the team’s bargaining power when it comes down to roping in a star like Ingram.

Ingram, who is in the last year of his 5-year contract with the Pels, has been seeking an extension. However, after the latest trade of Dejounte Murray, the New Orleans side will have financial constraints if they extend his contract. Addressing the uncertain future of BI, Adrian Wojnarowski said, “I think this is going to be a dance for a while.” Nevertheless, it’s an opportunity for the Dubs to pouch him into the fold.

The Dub Nation votes for a Kevin Durant replica

Someone indeed has pressed the panic button in the Dub Nation. While Klay Thompson is on his way to leave the Dubs for good, fans vigorously engage in figuring out the best roster for the future. And, fans expect a Kevin Durant miracle that happened in 2016. Even though KD can still be an option, considering his run with the Phoenix Suns, fans look for a replica of him, and it’s Brandon Ingram.

A fan proposed a trade plan for Ingram but at the cost of Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga. Along with that, they added a side note, that read, “Warriors get an excellent replica of the Kevin Durant-style player that helped them win 2 NBA Championships.” However, fans didn’t like the expense, as one fan, replying to the post, wrote, “Why would you give up Both Kuminga & Wiggins for Brandon Ingram when Kuminga alone is possibly the best player in the deal.”

Moreover, fans didn’t feel the Paul Goerge pursuit was a working trade for the Warriors. Considering the star’s age and injury woes, fans felt BI to be the better option. Additionally, speaking of the trade value, a fan wrote“Warriors need to go after someone good that’s not an overpaid vet (PG13). Go get Brandon Ingram or Dejonte Murray. PG13 on a four-year max is too risky!”

Importantly, the Dubs have put forward their say on the off-season trade drama. And, it’s a unanimous call to trade Brandon Ingram.
