The Blue Jays said X-rays were negative and that Espinal has a left hand contusion.

“We’ll see how he feels tomorrow,” manager John Schneider said after the game.

Espinal was lucky to not be hit in the head. He was down for several minutes and was attended to by trainer Jose Ministral.

Whit Merrifield replaced Espinal as a pinch runner.
