The Nationwide Milk Producers Federation and U.S. Dairy Export Council applaud U.S. Commerce Consultant Katherine Tai’s actions below USMCA relating to Canada’s dairy market. Tai is submitting a brand new request for dispute settlement consultations with Canada with a purpose to broaden the scope of the second USMCA dairy dispute to incorporate extra components mandatory to make sure Canada complies with its commerce settlement obligations.
“We thank USTR and USDA for his or her diligence in working to make sure that American dairy producers have the market entry promised below USMCA,” says Jim Mulhern, president and CEO of NMPF. “Canada continues to flagrantly flout its obligations, so the U.S. authorities must be prepared with retaliatory measures.”
Krysta Harden, president and CEO of USDEC, says it’s deeply unlucky that Canada refuses to honor the complete phrases of the settlement. “USMCA is a good deal that was completely negotiated and agreed to by the Canadian authorities,” she says.
