Justin Jefferson reset the market for the wide receivers with his new deal. The Minnesota Vikings officially extended the contract to $140 million for 4 years of their star WR Jefferson on Monday, June 3. This raised the question of the contracts of the other star receivers, especially Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill.
Hill became the highest-paid receiver when he signed a 4 year, $120 million contract with the Phins back in 2022. And now after Jefferson grabbed that title from him, Hill can again be after his own contract update, as sports agent Drew Rosenhaus hinted on Monday.
Soon after Jefferson’s deal, Rosenhaus told Miami’s WSVN in response to the question of Hill’s contract, “Let’s just say it’s safe to acknowledge that I’ve been in touch with (general manager) Chris Grier and (executive) Brandon Shore of the Dolphins. I have a fluid line of communication with them, and I’ve shared with them how Tyreek feels. And I’ll also reiterate that Tyreek has said that he would love to finish his career here with the Dolphins. Without getting into anymore specifics, the Dolphins know how we feel.”
Additionally, to discuss the matter further, in the latest talk on the NFL Network, Tom Pelissero was joined by reporter Mike Garafolo and analyst Marc Ross. Garafolo highlighted that he wonders “if the Dolphins try to sweeten that deal or maybe work with that $45 million number. Move it up a little bit. Spread it out so that you actually get that last year under contract.” He further suggested Miami “to borrow off of some of that money” and have him for three years.
Currently, Hill is in fourth rank with an average of $30 million per season, behind Jefferson, A.J. Brown ($32 million), and Amon-Ra St. Brown (a bit more than $30 million per year).
