At UFC 302,Islam Makhachev defended his lightweight title against Dustin Poirier and won the fight. The victory extended the winning streak of the Russian to 14 and he is officially the number one P4P fighter, according to the UFC rankings. However, Dana White does not agree with this decision because Jon Jones is still active as a fighter!
He feels that ‘Bones’ is still the best Pound 4 Pound fighter in the world since he has not lost a single fight. On top of that, he’s returning to the Octagon after healing from his pectoral injury and surgery and might be fighting Stipe Miočić soon! However, Dana White also declared something else about Jones in the Flagrant podcast recently. Let’s see what he had to say.

During the Flagrant podcast, White vehemently disagreed that Makhachev was the best P4P fighter. Although he sent his appreciation and love to the Dagestani, he preferred Jones as the best heavyweight champion there was. White remarked, “Jon Jones beats the fu** out of people.” The UFC CEO does not like the fact that Jones is number 2 right now in the charts.
After complimenting ‘Bones’ and even describing his “dark side”, White moved on to talk about the next step in the legend’s career. He explained, “I mean listen, what I want and what’s gonna happen, are two different things. I don’t know; that’s the other thing dealing with Jon Jones. You don’t know what’s gonna happen.”

Meanwhile, the business mogul cleared that the Stipe Miočić fight was on, and if ‘Bones’ won that and went on to fight Tom Aspinall, and defeated him as well, White would fight with anyone who did not see Jones as the best P4P. Dana White has immense faith in the 36-year-old and is waiting for the next bout. Meanwhile, Jones is busy training in the gym since he has recovered from his dangerous pectoral injury. On top of that, he even commented on his opponent’s training!
Jon Jones criticised Stipe Miočić’s training
Jones saw his opponent’s training videos and he believes that Miocic is pretending to be weak while training as a tactic to get inside Jones’s head. Bones perceives this as a mind game by his opponent and in the video, Miocic looked to be struggling to throw perfect jabs at the training pad. This is particularly odd for a professional UFC fighter.

Jones came to his Instagram and decided to talk about his opponent’s training method. He commented, “I’m not a historian of war or anything, but I have learned a thing or two in my day. A big part of combat strategy is timing and deception. To make a long story short, if your opponent appears weak, prepare even harder. Complacency is the greatest enemy to a fighter like myself.”
The heavyweight fighter is not taking his opponent lightly and is being cautious about every step that he takes during training. He knows that Miocic has one of the best records of 20-4-0 so underestimating a fighter like that is going to be the wrong move. Do you think that Jones will win against Miocic?
