On Monday, the PGA of America President John Lindert announced the news. Many legendary golfers have led the US team to glory in their youth as captains and this time, choosing a younger captain might once again help Team USA to lift the Ryder Cup trophy.

SI.com writer Bob Harig a few hours after the announcement of the Ryder Cup 2025 team captain, reported the news. He took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account and wrote, “At age 39 next year, Keegan would be the youngest U.S. captain since Arnold Palmer was the playing captain in 1963 at East Lake. He was already in New York, undergoing media training, with a news conference for the announcement on Tuesday at the NASDAQ building.
Taking to the previous statistics, Harig even added, “Palmer was 34 at the time and would captain the team again in 1975. Palmer was also the last U.S. playing captain”. Arnold Palmer was first nominated captain in 1963 at the East Lake, and the team won the Ryder Cup trophy both years.

Keegan Bradley is a six-time PGA Tour Champion and has also played the Ryder Cup format twice (2012, and 2014), and the Presidents Cup once in 2014. Although both times, the team ended up being defeated, having played the game, the 2011 PGA Championship winner’s experience, will turn out to be invaluable for the team over the next year and a half, as they head to Bethpage Black, New York. On the other hand, former world number one Luke Donald will be leading team Europe for a second time, after their victory in Rome.
And well, not to forget, being the youngest golfer to be nominated so, he is expected to bring a fresh strategy to the table for the team. “I am incredibly honored to accept this opportunity to captain the United States Team at the 2025 Ryder Cup. The Ryder Cup is celebrated to be one of the greatest events in the golf community. Every two years, 24 of the best players from Europe and the US get into competition, each one led by a captain elected by the PGA America. Here’s a list of young golfers, who led their nation:
Ben Hogan: In 1947, 35-year-old Ben Hogan was selected to lead team US against the team led by Henry Cotton. The US team, despite their on and off winnings, are still in the domination and are far ahead of the European team.
