With the job market being what it is, there’s never been a better time to learn new skills (or brush up on old ones). Starting today, May 7th, through May 10th, MasterClass annual plans are 50% off. That means you can get a year of access for as little as $60, billed $5 per month.
MasterClass is an online education platform with a twist: all of the courses are taught by celebrity experts, and each course is spiffied up with tons of production value. Notable courses include Neil deGrasse Tyson on scientific thinking and communication, Ninja on becoming a successful streamer, Gordon Ramsay on cooking, and Disney’s Bob Iger on business strategy. These high-profile names are what set MasterClass apart from, say, Udemy or Coursera.
But a caveat before you dive in. Don’t go into MasterClass expecting to become an expert yourself. These courses are known for their blend of documentary-style entertainment and high-level overviews of their respective topics, not so much for practical experience or hands-on training. You’ll learn lots of new concepts and you’ll enjoy learning them from these renowned figures, but just know that you should treat MasterClass as more of an introduction than a full-blown apprenticeship.
The $60/year Standard plan is good for 1 device and doesn’t allow offline downloads, so it’s best if you plan on casual viewing in your free time at home. If you want to learn while on the go, you’ll need at least the $96/year Plus plan, good for up to 2 devices at the same time and offline mode. (You can likely skip the $120/year Premium plan, which bumps it up to 6 simultaneous devices. Not necessary unless you have a big family and you’re all watching MasterClass at the same time individually.)
Just seeing these famous experts talk about their craft is worth the price of admission, even if you don’t actually learn anything. At half off, MasterClass is well worth it.
